I really enjoy these podcasts because it focus more on The Flash characters; just a suggestion to also include the writers info of each episode because episode 19 was written by 2 former writers of The Tomorrow People & it might also explain the lack of continuity we keep seeing between episodes.

We are glad you enjoy it! And thanks for the suggestion, we’ll take it into account.

I loved what you guys said about Joe and the Lances. I feel like in many ways this was a more successful crossover with Arrow, because it actually served to advance the story on The Flash and wasn’t just a reason for Felicity to come on the show and provide Barry with support that he could easily get from other characters on the show. It was a more, like, holistic integration than the previous crossovers. I think it helped that it was just Joe and Cisco visiting Starling, and not some big Crossover Event.

Great second podcast everyone! Everyone was hilarious this week. Really looking forward to what’s to come with these next 4 huge episodes from Newsflash Podcast. Great speculation, great laughs, and I super love the love and respect you all have for the Iris West arc.

I am so glad this podcast exist for us Flash/Irish/Westallen fans. It is difficult to watch recaps on YouTube where the Iris bashing, double standards and higher expectations of her is constant and irritating. I am happy to finally have a podcast that can present Iris in a more positive light. I agree that the shapeshifter character would have been much more interesting if he was Wells nemesis. I like how you are able to breakdown the episode pointing out what worked, what didn’t and your own theories and expectations. Bonus: this is a podcast done by women. I sent a message to someone I follow who does reviews on The Flash. He assumed I was a man. It’s like hey, we women love our superheroes… So having this panel hosted by women is very much needed.

LOL, I love your reactions to the shapeshifter plotline. It did make everyone seem dumber than normal… EXCEPT IRIS! Candice truly deserves more screentime, and this episode proved that even more than usual.
What’s weird is that if Iris does get angry, she’ll be the first woman in the Flarrow universe to be rightfully mad that she was lied to for a long time. The fact that they had Quentin be mad at Laurel at least suggests Iris will get to be similarly angry. MAKING INFORMED DECISIONS IS SO IMPORTANT.
Cisco is my second favorite character after Iris. He is a precious cinnamon roll, and I’m so glad they just made him a Laurel fanboy instead of have him flirt creepily.
And, yes, this episode was so much better than last week’s. But at least this one helped characters on both sides, while the previous one was incredibly unecessary. Can we talk about how Joe even brought up keeping the body a secret so that Iris wouldn’t find out? LOL JOE PLS STOP.
I do agree that the metahuman antics were incredibly inorganic. I was annoyed by it period, but I didn’t think about how silly the story structure was. As for the prison situation, I kind of thought the police knew that the Flash would be locking him up elsewhere. Not sure why I thought that now, but I think it was the same scene where the DA or whoever says “It’ll be hard for us to keep him locked up,” and I guess I figured that meant they knew the Flash would do it for them lol.

My not-so-secret hope is that Eobard hates Barry Allen so much because his nemesis is actually Barry and Iris’ great great great great grandson or daughter, lol. And Eobard realizes that Barry is the originator of the speedster abilities, so he goes back to kill him before he can procreate, rofl.
And… As I was typing this, you said it in your podcast. WE ARE CONNECTED. But, yeah, I mostly want this because it confirms Westallen endgame. 😛

Great Podcast, and thank you so much for this page, it’s writers, and all the contributors. I know it takes a lot of work to do something like this. So, just letting you know how much it’s appreciated.
I certainly want to second Melinda’s sentiments, I LOVE this Iris-Positive environment. It’s such a relief and is the reason this podcast and blog is now my go to for anything Flash related.
This episode of ‘The Flash’ was definitely an improvement over the last episode imo. The cross-over during this episode worked well imo. It wasn’t bloated or filler material. I did have a lot of SMH moments though and the characters were definitely dumbed down to advance the plot But overall I enjoyed it more than “All-Star team up”.
You ladies brought up so many good points about everything in this podcast, lol.
About Iris:
Candace Patton is amazing, and I was so happy that this episode allowed her to display so much of her range. I was psyched to see bad-ass Iris, even if it wasn’t her. I need more Iris though.
Honestly, I am beyond disappointed that it took 19 episodes to actually SHOW Iris doing some digging of her own, since getting the job at CCPN. I was really looking forward to a Mason/Iris team up, and seeing her journey as a beginner in the field but instead they killed Mason and then shoved Iris into corner while the guys did the heavy duty work. Fgs, she is the reason Barry was clued in about Shady Wells (1.15). I thought she would get more of an opportunity to flex her reporter muscles, but still i’m glad she had a moment in this episode
I absolutely agree with you ladies about Iris not having anyone to talk to. What gives though? They wasted a whole episode (1.18) on awkward, pointless scenes, instead of using the epi to follow up with Iris and her potentially growing suspicions about his disappearance. We didn’t even get to see her react fully to the news about Mason.
I would absolutely love it if Iris was BSing these men this whole time. That would be theee greatest plot twist ever (I can dream). I also I want Iris to get her own place, assert her independence, be free of those men in her life for a little bit, while simultaneously kicking ass as a reporter (I can dream)
Speaking of Eddie:
“Like Father, Like daughter”….reallly!!!???. I wanted to punch Eddie in the throat when he said that.
He’s done and said things in past episodes that I didn’t like but this comment, the way he said it, ugh. It wasn’t just a cold shoulder or an implied ultimatum, he was being such a bitter, blue balled, prick. Iris had every right to be upset and suspicious. She had every right to take time for herself while HE figured out if he was going to be honest or not and he knows this but he still chose to hit below the belt with that comment. Iris is the hurt party, she is the one being lied to and he’s taking out his frustration on her.Seriously??? I hated seeing that. It was such a turn off and possibly a sign of more negative things to come for Eddie.
Idk, maybe i’m making more of it than I should, but that off handed comment was so wrong and his 1/10 of a truth did not make up for it. He still lied and is still lying, and I hope he gets his tail handed to him when Iris finds out. I hope this prompts Iris to move out.
I can’t make heads or tails of why it appears they might still be together in the finale but I hope something drastic happens by the final episode to make their relationship end…like maybe an alternate timeline, where Iris never met Eddie ;)))

Like this episode over the previous week’s episode, but I loved this podcast even more. It’s nice to listen to a podcast that doesn’t ignore Iris’ involvement or consider her annoying for being in it. It’s also nice to hear people talk about Caitlin because she has also been under utilized and used as more of a romantic avenue for Firestorm.
Suggestions for the podcast: I’ve noticed that they conversation tends to wander around, bouncing from topic to topic. While I do enjoy this, it can seem to ramble. My suggestion is attempt to break the episode into different plots like A plot being the Wells investigation, B plot the Metahuman, and C plot the continued lying to Iris. They are interconnected, but it allows for focus on each part. Though this doesn’t work for each episode.
Another suggestion covering some DC TV News, there isn’t much right now beyond Spin-off stuff, but it seems like the CW is trying to expand their live action universe.
While I agree that this type of plot heavy crossover works the best out of all. I do enjoy the idea of crossovers. Having an interconnected universe, especially ones tied to tv means that people will expect to hear news, see people, and have interactions between the shows. As for Laurel not being a metahuman. When they started the show, the idea of metahumans seemed ridiculous and far stretching. People had trouble believing that folks couldn’t tell it was Oliver under the mask, Laurel having metahuman abilities was a stretch. Didn’t mean people didn’t ask for it, but I’m glad they didn’t bend on the issue. I like Laurel and all of us learning to navigate this world of metahumans, thinking that she could become one later on after an accident and use her position as a lawyer to advocate for other metahumans who are being hunted by the public. It’d give her a cool arc next season.
